The title, “Pulp Fly” plays on the pulp phenomenon of the early 20th century, when an explosion of periodicals published on newly inexpensive paper allowed publishers to take risks, and brought new and unconventional voices to a wide and eager audience. History is being repeated in the 21st century with the advent of the e-book, an inexpensive way to bring new, non-mainstream writing to “print.”

Pulp Fly was created to offer a new venue for fresh perspectives on sporting topics, for talented writers emerging and well-known; to circumvent the cumbersome and expensive process of print publishing and take advantage of new technologies. Pulp Fly exists to provide a platform for creative, adventurous writing – for those who believe good writing should contain as much potential for surprise as putting a fly on the water.
